Have you decided to start your own business yet? Some of you might have already done so. If so, good for you. If not, what are you waiting for?

If you’re still stuck on what type of business to start, then write down more ideas. Perhaps you know someone with an inspiring story, ask them what they did, or even consider new choices that you enjoy.

Initially it may be better to work within your current skill set, but this is not required. It simply may just take more effort.

The good news for those who have deiced to get started is that there are only a handful of options when you are just starting out, Sole proprietorship or corporations.

Most small businesses will likely start out as a sole proprietorship. As a sole proprietor you are your business. One and the same as far as the sate and country are concerned. You can get your DBA (”Doing Business As”) in a name other then your own name for around $50 or less in most cases with only a checking account and signature. These are by far the easiest way to setup a business.

A Corporation, while a little more confusing to the beginner, is often the better way to run your business. In many cases if you have not already started here, then you should consider converting to one as soon as you can. The corporate structure offers better safeguards for you and your business assets. This becomes quite a difference should you ever be sued for some reason.

The best thing you can do is to research the differences between the various business entities that are available. There are plenty of options, and it has become quite inexpensive to incorporate these days. Incorporation may not be the best right off the bat, but should definitely be considered a viable long-term option.

In other words, do your homework.
